DINING OUT TO BENEFIT KATRINA RELIEF EFFORTS
MONTEREY, Calif. September 8, 2005—With the thousands
of people stranded and homeless from Hurricane Katrina, the Rotary Club of Monterey
Pacific is looking to the community for support. On Wednesday, September 14, local
restaurant owners will be donating 10% of the day’s proceeds to the American Red
Cross to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims.
“Thanks to the Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific for
coordinating this event with so many generous businesses,” said Annette
Culcasi-Ivers, Owner of Rosine’s Restaurant in downtown Monterey. “This is a great
way for our community to make a difference in the hurricane victims’ lives during
this very difficult time.”
Participating restaurants include Anton & Michel’s,
French Poodle and The Grill on Ocean Avenue in Carmel; Chapala’s Mexican Restaurant
in Salinas; Laguna Café and The Fishwife in Seaside; Epsilon, Shnarley’s Pizzeria on
Cannery Row and Rosine’s Restaurant in Monterey; The Old Bath House, Shnarley’s
Pizzeria, The Fishwife at the Asilomar and First Awakenings in Pacific Grove and the
Wild Goose Bakery & Café and Garden Bistro in Carmel Valley. More restaurants will
be confirmed in the coming week.
“The members of our club wanted to do what Rotarians
do best, help those in need. Even if the financial assistance raised on this one day
only benefits a small portion of the disaster area, we know that together, across
the world, Rotarians are reacting and serving those who need it most,” added Sandy
Whittle, President of the Rotary Club of Monterey Pacific.
